In-series sample methodology for permeability characterization demonstrated on carbon nanotube-grafted alumina textiles

چکیده

In-plane permeability of small area (100 × 50 mm) alumina fiber woven fabrics grafted with aligned carbon nanotubes (CNT) was quantified by placing them in series a glass mat known during flow experiment. The methodology first validated on reference textile. Permeability values matched those obtained direct method within margin ±15%. Permeabilities radial-aligned (short CNT, SCNT) and so-called ‘Mohawk’ (long LCNT) morphologies the CNT-grafted samples were then measured compared to non-grafted alumina, showing decrease attributed change local textile structure as assessed previous studies. Unsaturated decreased 77% after SCNT- 88% LCNT-grafting, while saturated further 90% 93%, respectively. high ratio unsaturated (in range 1.14 – 2.89) implies that capillary wicking contributes largely impregnation fabrics.

Hierarchical Composites with Carbon Nanotube Grafted Fibres

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are excellent candidates for a new generation of high-strength, high-stiffness materials due to their low density, high aspect ratio and intrinsically superior mechanical properties. The present study investigates the feasibility of reinforcing conventional fibre/matrix composites by grafting CNTs onto the fibre surface. The approach is to exploit the CNT performance to ...

Synthesis and characterization of a carbon nanotube-dendron series for efficient siRNA delivery.

A new series of dendron-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) derivatives, characterized by the presence of numerous positively charged tetraalkyl ammonium salts at the periphery of the dendron, has been synthesized. The positive charges on the MWNT surface, coupled with the unique ability of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to penetrate cell membranes, make the new derivatives potentially i...

Synthesis and Characterization of Anatase-coated Multiwall Carbon Nanotube for Improvement of Photocatalytic Activity

Sol-gel technique was used to coat multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with anatase titania to increasing the surface area and improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. Room temperature ballistic conduct of MWCNT combined with semiconducting behavior of anatase brought about a photocatalytic improvement of ~37 % with respect to the highest methyl orange decolorization flair. For characteriza...
